The British NHS system is coming in for a lot of flack from US right wing politicians just now. Let me tell you about my experience of it over the passed couple of months. 10th September I went to see my GP and once we discussed my cough I asked him about getting a vasectomy. He referred me to the hospital and I saw a consultant on the 24th Sept and went on the waiting list - the target is you should get the op within 3-months. Last Tuesday (20 Oct) I got a phone call inviting me to go in yesterday for the op. Got into the Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary at 0900, the operation was carried out at 0945 - 1015 and I was home by 1230! Cost was £0! Now that's what I call service. I pay my NI (National Insurance) every week and that in turn is used by the Government to fund the NHS. Its a great institution and its about time that the USA had something like it rather than a two tier system - one for the rich and one for the poor!

As for me I'm a wee bit sore but pain killers are doing their job. Need to get tested in 12-weeks time and again in 16-weeks to see if I'm clear if the swimmers - as we said in the Royal Navy: "Firing watershots not warshots" lol.
